Testing of the NorNed cable connection between Norway and the Netherlands has endured for one and a half weeks.

Testing of the NorNed cable connection between Norway and the Netherlands has endured for one and a half weeks. The results so far are affirmative.

During this time power has been transmitted in both directions between the Netherlands and Norway. High power test flows up to approx 620 MW went from Norway to the Netherlands. The trials have included ramping of power, going from low to high power transmission and down again, change of direction and reliable transmission.

Both high and low power testing will be continued by turns in the coming weeks. High power test schemes for levels from 100 MW and up to 700 MW will be published on TenneT website and as urgent market message (UMM) at Nord Pool Spot (NPS).

Conditional to outcome of to be performed tests, TenneT and Statnett aim for NorNed to become available to transport of electricity in the second week of May. TenneT and Statnett will provide updates on this information.
