On June 6, AREVA’s Transmission and Distribution division inaugurated the new production hall of its Power Transformer Plant located in Mönchengladbach, Germany (Düsseldorf region), in the presence of its Chairman and CEO Philippe Guillemot.

This 6M€ investment will enable the site to double its capacity and cope with order growth in Europe. A massive recruitment campaign was launched last year and resulted in the creation of 100 new jobs. The site currently employs 300 people among which one third are newcomers.

With more than 100 years of expertise in power transformers and with 50% of its production dedicated to exports, the Mönchengladbach site is considered a benchmark in Europe and the Middle-East.

Ghislain Lescuyer, Executive Vice President for the Products Business Unit said: “This capacity increase is of key importance for AREVA T&D as it will ensure on-time delivery of Mönchengladbach’s 140 M€ orders per year while sustaining our high- quality standards. It will also enable us to keep our benchmark position within the competitive Power Transformer market.”
