Utility Consulting Presents 'Treetilization' at Forestry Conference

Director of Consulting Services Will Porter presented “Treetilization: a Shared Benefits Approach to Preventing Tree and Power Line Conflicts.”

Three CN Utility Consulting (CNUC) employees presented at the Partners in Community Forestry Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina on Nov. 6.

Director of Consulting Services Will Porter presented “Treetilization: a Shared Benefits Approach to Preventing Tree and Power Line Conflicts.”  During his presentation, he identified roots of utility vegetation management and how history has influenced the way it is practiced today, while introducing the concept of treetilization.

CNUC Lead Consulting Utility Forester Erica Lewis and Consulting Utility Forester Mariah Prescott presented “Replanting Projects in Tornado Devastated Communities.”  Erica and Mariah explained their two 2013 initiatives, Replanting Apison and Replanting Ringgold. These projects were led by CNUC’s consulting utility foresters and brought volunteers together to provide and plant a combined 450 native trees around the devastated communities.

Vice President of Operations Derek Vannice and Eastern U.S. Regional Manager Josh Beaver were also in attendance at the conference.
