Dec. 18, 2013
Safety, reliability, equipment, transformers, and case studies, will be the focus on the first day of PowerTest 2014, Monday, March 3.

Safety, reliability, equipment, transformers, and case studies, will be the focus on the first day of PowerTest 2014, Monday, March 3. PowerTest is an event hosted by NETA (InterNational Electrical Testing Association).

Attendees can choose from 27 unique, 45-minute technical presentations including the option to attend a three-hour symposium covering power transformers. NETA Certified Technicians who need Continuing Technical Development Credits (CTDs) as well as other industry professionals needing continuing education will benefit from the broad range of topics presented by leaders in the industry.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY – Six presentations on electrical safety are showcased. Dennis Neitzel, AVO Training Institute, will present his program Industrial Electrical Safety Compliance Assessments. Other programs will focus on the safety of arc-flash detection systems, maintenance intervals for circuit breakers, and developing a work site protection program. RELIABILITY – This track includes six presentations, including Keeping the Lights On – Update on Testing Medium-Voltage Cable and Switchgear Systems, by Ashley Harkness, Electrical Reliability Services. Other presentations cover implementing symmetrical components into relay testing, approaching power quality and reliability problems, and performing a power survey. TRANSFORMERS – Three presentations are featured in this track, including William Keith Hill’s I Know How to Add the Numbers – But What is the Power Factor Telling Me? Hill, from Doble Engineering, was voted one of the favorite presenters at PowerTest 2013. Another example of what is included in the Transformer Track is a focus on water distribution and migration in transformer insulation systems.
