Open Systems International, Inc. has been awarded a new contract by City Water, Light & Power of Springfield, Illinois, to replace its legacy SCADA/EMS system with a new system based on OSI’s state-of-the-art monarch (Multi-platform Open Network ARCHitecture) platform.

CWLP is the largest municipally owned electric system in Illinois, providing power to approximately 70,000 electric customers in an 80-square-mile service territory in and around Springfield. The total population served by CWLP is over 120,000. CWLP’s selection of OSI for this project was motivated by the requirement for a technically advanced platform, capable of effectively fulfilling its operational mission while meeting the expected requirements of the forthcoming version of the NERC CIP Standards.

CWLP’s new monarch SCADA/EMS system includes SCADA, Generation Control and Dispatch, Transmission Security Analysis (State Estimator, Power Flow and Contingency Analysis) and Operator Training Simulator Functionality.
