Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. has released its new protective relay event analysis software, synchroWAVe Event 2015. The visualization and analysis tool delivers a modern, powerful, and intuitive interface with enhanced navigation. The customizable display is designed so users can easily compare measurements and time-align event reports for accurate analysis of signals from multiple relays, past events, or even traveling wave event reports.

In addition to its robust user interface, synchroWAVe Event 2015 offers an integrated custom calculation engine, which gives engineers the ability to generate derived quantities, such as differential current or fault impedance. Engineers can directly plot the calculation results within the application, eliminating the need to export data to other tools for analysis. Advanced search and filter options further enable the quick addition of analog and digital signals to charts.

“SEL invented the first digital protective relay 30 years ago,” said Dave Whitehead, SEL vice president of R&D. “From the very beginning, we have built event reporting functionality into all our relays to help our customers rapidly analyze and respond to power system faults. Following in this tradition, synchroWAVe Event 2015 is the next step in enabling rapid and efficient analysis of these reports.”
