Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. has released the new SEL-3373 Station Phasor Data Concentrator (PDC) with archiving.

The Station PDC comes equipped with an intuitive user interface, the PDC Assistant, for breakthrough ease of use in setup and configuration. Several features include data concentration for as many as 40 PMU inputs, the capability to archive several months of phasor data on the built-in 120 GB solid-state drive (SSD), user-configurable output data streams, and built-in NERC CIP security features, including individual and role-based account authentication, access logs, strong passwords, and port control. With no moving parts or vents to break down or clog, the Station PDC offers exceptional operation and reliability.

In one popular application, transmission operators apply the flexible archiving capabilities of the Station PDC for dynamic disturbance recording as part of a NERC PRC-002 disturbance recording system. In other applications, the PDC operates as part of a wide-area visualization, awareness, and protection system to improve electrical transmission grid reliability.

The Station PDC is the second PDC that SEL has introduced this year. In June, the SEL-5073 synchroWAVe PDC Software was introduced. The two PDCs share a common user interface (the PDC Assistant) for setting up, configuring, and viewing real-time status. This improves ease of use for customers whose systems include both hardware and software PDCs.
