Ambient Smart Grid Nodes now have an optional Powerline Communications (PLC) Module to improve automation and communication on downtown underground grid architectures that pose a challenge to wireless communication. PLC facilitates secure, high-speed, highly reliable communication over the existing low and medium voltage grid, and helps minimize infrastructure and operational costs.
John J. Joyce, President and CEO of Ambient, said, "Powerline Communications technology can be extended across the full FCC band to provide a robust and secure communication channel. PLC is particularly suited to connect hard-to-reach or underground environments, such as underground vaults, meter rooms, or metal cabinets. Furthermore, Ambient's Smart Grid Node family supports multiple protocols such as DNP3 as well as local data aggregation, local applications and control providing connectivity to remote devices such as; meters or demand response equipment cost effectively."
Ambient Corp. helps utilities modernize the grid with IP-based networking products and applications that integrate and connect existing and future grid assets on a secure, flexible, and scalable smart grid communications platform.
