RuggedCom Inc. has announced the release of a new-high density industrially hardened Ethernet switch, the RuggedSwitch RSG2300. The RSG2300 will address the needs of large mission-critical networks found in substation automation for electric utilities, intelligent transportation systems, and advanced control and automation for industrial processes.

The RuggedSwitch RSG2300 product features:

  • Up to 32 Fast Ethernet ports (24 copper + 8 copper or 8 fiber)
  • Configurations with up to 4 Gigabit fiber ports available
  • RuggedRated for harsh environments
  • Advanced managed Ethernet switch functions
  • Integrated cyber Security Features

The RuggedSwitch RSG2300 is RuggedRated for harsh environments. RuggedRated products meet or exceed a wide range of industry standards; provide a high level of immunity to electromagnetic interference and heavy electrical surges (IEC 61850, IEEE 1613); feature a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C (no fans); can be powered from a variety of sources (24 VDC, 48 VDC, 88-300 VDC/85-264 VAC); and have high MTBFs and reliability characteristics. In addition, the RSG2300 can be configured with a dual parallel load sharing power supply that increases the overall network reliability and reduces downtime. All of these features allow the RuggedSwitch products to be placed in almost any location for great installation flexibility.
