Recognizing the utility industry’s increasing concern for security, S&C has further enhanced the wireless point-to-point communication capabilities of IntelliRupter PulseCloser to prevent unauthorized access.

In addition to SCADA control of the local communication interface and intrusion detection and alarming, IntelliRupter’s WiFi transceiver features 256-bit encryption with user-defined keys. Newly released “Crew” and “Region” key formats, combined with the existing “Master” key format for administrators and time lock capability, provide even-more-powerful access protection for IntelliRupter PulseCloser.

These features, plus IntelliRupter’s built-in controls — there’s no separate control enclosure that can be compromised — make the IntelliRupter local communication interface one of the industry’s most secure. Utility users can control access to their IntelliRupters in the manner that best meets their operating practices. To learn more about these features, see Instruction Sheet 766-523.
