Snohomish County Public District Utility has awarded SUBNET a contract to upgrade its electrical substations.

Snohomish County Public District Utility (PUD) has awarded SUBNET a contract to upgrade its electrical substations. The PUD is the 12th largest public utility in the United States and currently serves more than 318,000 consumers of electricity.

In an effort to maintain a reliable source of service for customers, the PUD has embarked on a dual purpose project; first, to replace old substation equipment nearing the end of its useful life cycle, and second to take advantage of available "Smart Grid" technologies.

SUBNET’s SubstationSERVER.NET software application will be installed in PUD substations to manage local devices. Once configured, authorized personnel can securely and remotely configure and maintain substation equipment.

The project is slated to begin in the third quarter 2009.
