Irish energy business Viridian Group Ltd. has successfully implemented NewEnergy's MarketManager solution to support its operations in the new All-Island Single Electricity Market (SEM). The SEM, which went live on Nov. 1, 2007, is a new wholesale trading arrangement based on the gross mandatory pool approach. Viridian rolled out NewEnergy's comprehensive operations management system to ensure accuracy, reliability and efficiency in energy trading data management and messaging with the Single Market Operator's central systems.

NewEnergy worked in collaboration with IBM Global Business Services to manage and fully deploy the MarketManager software for Viridian, who is using the software to manage SEM market messaging, energy trading data and related business processes. As a result, personnel across Viridian now have facilities to support efficient, reliable and auditable management of complex operations processes, across front-, middle- and back-office trading functions.

NewEnergy has played a leading role in promoting an All-Island electricity market in Ireland, working with multiple clients to support the challenging transition to the SEM. The company has provided strategic solutions to Viridian for several years. RetailOffice, a companion product to MarketManager, was implemented in 2003 to facilitate the management of customer load profiling and forecasting and to support energy scheduling activities.
