RuggedCom Inc. has introduced the RuggedRouter RX1500 and the RuggedRouter RX1501. Announced during DistribuTECH in Tampa, Florida, the new RX1500 and RX1501 are suited for electric power utilities, the industrial plant floor and traffic control systems.

The RuggedRouter RX1500 is a cost-effective, industrially hardened, integrated layer-3 Ethernet switch and router. The RX1500’s modular and hot-swappable platform allows customers to select among DSL, cellular, T1/E1, DDS, serial and Ethernet options, while offering up to 8-port Gigabit Ethernet and dual redundant power supplies. The RuggedRouter RX1501 offers customers a greater port density in 100Mbps line rates, with support for up to 24 optical ports and 36-port copper 10/100BaseTX.

Both the RX1500 and RX1501 are hardened to the RuggedRated specification that provides a high level of immunity to electromagnetic interference (EMI) and heavy electrical surges typical of the harsh environments found in many industrial applications. An operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C (-40°F to +185°F) allows the RuggedRouter to be placed in almost any location.
