Open Systems International, Inc. will work with Oracle to develop and market advanced distribution management systems technology to support utilities' smart grid build-outs — aimed to improve energy delivery utilization and resilience, as well as empower consumers to address environmental concerns.

Today's emerging smart grid deployments will generate a vast amount of energy usage data and require utilities to efficiently distribute energy, as well as detect, isolate and correct faults quickly. As a member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork, OSI will work closely with Oracle to help utilities optimize energy distribution throughout the grid.

OSI's experience in Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, Energy Management Systems (EMS), market management and substation automation solutions complements Oracle Utilities' experience and mission-critical software applications, including Oracle Utilities Network Management System — which helps utilities efficiently distribute power, improve network reliability and reduce outage durations. The solution operates on a common data model and integrates easily with Oracle Utilities' meter data management and customer care applications — providing utilities with a wealth of information that helps them improve network performance and customer satisfaction.
