ViryaNet has announced that its subsidiary, Utility Partners (UP), has signed an agreement with Montana-Dakota Utilities Co., for the upgrade of Montana-Dakota to WorkUP v6. Terms of the agreement include the purchase of a WorkUP v6 license for use by approximately 400 users as well as training and implementation services.

Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. generates, transmits, and distributes electricity, as well as distributes natural gas and provides related value-added products and services in the Northern Great Plains. The company serves about 117,000 electric customers and 240,000 gas customers in over 250 communities in portions of Montana, North Dakota, Wyoming, and Minnesota. Montana-Dakota began using the UP product, WorkUP, in November 1999 to manage the activities of about 280 Montana-Dakota field technicians as well as to automate many of the processes associated with its field service delivery.

WorkUP v6 provides a tool for modeling, creating, planning, and executing any type of work. Using modeling tools in WorkUP v6, Montana-Dakota defines the types of work it performs as well as the resources it requires, including equipment and vehicles. With this program, Montana-Dakota also capitalizes on enhanced scheduling and processing capabilities as well as the ability to manage and execute work in a wireless environment.
