Hunt Technologies has announced the commercial availability of the high-power AirPoint module for the GE I-210 meter. This integrated endpoint is fully compatible with the Itron Mobile Collection System 1.0 and 2.0 and offers the a high-power solution with the flexibility to optimize its use in customer-specific applications.

“The AirPoint GE I-210 high-power endpoint combines many functions and features that have never been available before in a mobile RF solution,” said Corey McGuire, AirPoint Product marketing manager. “This makes the endpoint suitable for nearly any topography and population density.”

Seamlessly integrated into the meter, the endpoint allows utilities to program a specific message “bubble-up” rate using GE Metermate software. With selectable values of 6, 15, and 30 seconds and a transmission range of up to 2.5 miles or more based on topography, the endpoint can be configured to work in low-, mid- and high-density mobile and fixed-network environments.

Utilities will also be able to specify between two types of modules compatible with several off-site data collection systems. This provides more options for customers with legacy mobile systems and ensures field personnel will continue to see data in a recognizable format. Further flexibility is provided by the available SCM or SCM/IDM message options. SCM provides more value for lower density areas where a fixed network is not installed.

Other product benefits include:

  • Direct register read ensures highest accuracy.
  • Tamper resistant design minimizes theft.
  • Optical port enables through-the-glass programming.
  • 240 V design supports multiple meter forms and minimizes utility system losses.

According to McGuire, the AirPoint GE I-210 is suited to utilities that are looking for High Power AirPoint technology for use with an existing mobile or fixed-network RF-based AMR system, along with programming options for added functionality.

“This endpoint fits our plan to continue engineering RF technologies that meet and exceed customer requirements and expectations,” McGuire said.

In addition to AirPoint, Hunt Technologies offers a complete set of AMR/AMI solutions, including one-way and two-way PLC, multi-utility for electric, water and gas, and broad meter compatibility across all of its solutions.
