Manitoba Hydro has awarded Sun-Net Consulting a contract for the delivery and implementation of a Consolidated Operational Data and Logging Application Suite.

Headquartered in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Manitoba Hydro is a Crown Corporation and the province’s major energy utility. Manitoba exports electricity to more than 30 electric utilities through participation in four wholesale markets in Canada and the Midwestern United States. Manitoba Hydro serves 516,800 electric customers throughout Manitoba and 259,500 gas customers in various communities throughout southern Manitoba. Nearly all the electricity Manitoba Hydro generates is from self-renewing water power from 14 hydroelectric generating stations, primarily on the Winnipeg, Saskatchewan and Nelson rivers.

The Energy Delivery and Outage Application Suite developed by SNC will provide Manitoba Hydro with an advanced integrated comprehensive role-based application tool. It is designed and individually customized for processing and managing power system outages on the generation, transmission, sub-transmission, distribution and gas systems. The Web-based application covers the complete spectrum in today’s outage coordination and reporting processes including real-time, short-term, and long-term planning. The application received recognition as an Example of Excellence in recent NERC Audits.
