Indianapolis Power & Light Co. has selected the Ecologic MDMS for IPL’s initiative to modernize and improve efficiency of the local power grid.

Ecologic Analytics, a leading provider of meter data management systems (MDMS) for the Smart Grid, announced that Indianapolis Power & Light Co. has selected the Ecologic MDMS for its initiative to modernize and improve efficiency of the local power grid. The MDMS project is part of IPL’s Advanced Demand Side Management Initiative, which is subject to approval by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission. IPL is one of a number of utilities participating in the $3.4 billion Smart Grid Investment Grant program recently announced by President Barack Obama.

The Ecologic MDMS will support IPL in further enhancing energy information for approximately 470,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in Indianapolis and the surrounding counties spanning more than 528 square miles of Central Indiana.

IPL is joining a growing installed base of utilities that rely on the Ecologic team for their immediate and future Smart Grid initiatives—including three of the top five “most intelligent utilities” as ranked by IDC Energy Insights’ 2009 UtiliQ report. The Ecologic MDMS is a central repository and connection point converging the many available streams of information with business processes, customers and infrastructure across the IPL enterprise.
