Generation Company Selects Technology for New Generation Management System

Open Systems International, Inc. has been awarded a contract by one of the nation’s energy providers to supply a consolidated Generation Management System (GMS) based on OSI’s monarch platform.

Open Systems International, Inc. has been awarded a contract by one of the nation’s energy providers to supply a consolidated Generation Management System (GMS) based on OSI’s monarch platform to operate its generation portfolio and manage nearly 45,000 MW of generation capacity in several markets including PJM, ERCOT, SPP, MISO and CAISO. The company’s generation portfolio includes nuclear, thermal, hydro and wind resources. This company provides power to approximately 1.2 million commercial, industrial and retail customers. This company has requested to remain anonymous.

This new GMS system is based on OSI’s monarch (Multi-platform Open Network ARCHitecture) platform and includes the advanced functionality presented by OSI’s Advanced Alarm Management System; Historical Information System and Data Archiving; Inter-control Center Communications Protocol; Automatic Generation Control and Dispatch; and Market Operations System interfaces.
