Florida Power & Light Co. (FPL) has selected Send Word Now's Alert Service to expand its rapid communications capabilities. FPL will use Send Word Now to rapidly communicate with its stakeholders including employees, media outlets, homeland security and government agencies when unforeseen circumstances, such as outages or weather-related incidents arise, and for everyday, time-sensitive situations.

"We selected Send Word Now as an additional tool to augment our already robust emergency communications capabilities," said Alex Zappani, director of Emergency Planning at FPL. "With Send Word Now, we now have the broadest set of tools for immediate and flexible communication to our stakeholders."

"Energy firms and utility companies must be able to reach hundreds and even thousands of field-based workers in a short period of time," said Tony Schmitz, president and CEO at Send Word Now. "During emergency situations or time sensitive situations, it is critical for these firms to communicate and coordinate with employees, government agencies as well as the media to prevent the spread of misinformation and public panic, as they resolve their crisis. Send Word Now is an ideal solution for these organizations."

Send Word Now's Alert Service enables organizations to rapidly communicate with thousands of people anywhere in the world within minutes using any device. With rapid alerting and response in a two-way environment, time-sensitive events can be addressed immediately, reducing human latency and resulting in better decision-making and quicker response times.
