Dec. 9, 2010
Colorado Springs Utilities recently purchased iFactor’s industry leading Storm Center product to fulfill its internal outage communications needs.

Colorado Springs Utilities has purchased iFactor’s Storm Center product for internal outage communications. The Storm Center implementation will provide a platform for delivering outage information to internal consumers using interactive web applications built on Microsoft Bing Maps. The product will be delivered using a hosted deployment, providing Springs Utilities with a completely managed solution including servers, network connectivity, and software deployment and support. Storm Center will use standard web services to interface with Springs Utilities’ OMS data, and will display the information graphically using both a polygon thematic layer and a location point layer. Using Storm Center to provide widespread visibility into the real-time OMS data will improve operational awareness throughout the utility, improving decision making and communications from dispatch out through customer service, field operations, and executive management.

Colorado Springs Utilities employs more than 1,800 people and provides electricity, natural gas, water and wastewater services to the growing Pikes Peak region of Colorado. Springs Utilities’ service area spans 500 square miles and encompasses residential, industrial, commercial and military/government customers.
