Service Essentials has deployed First Data Utilities' Peace 8 customer information system (CIS) to bill and manage 5000 commercial and industrial retail electricity customers in Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales, and the Australian Capital Territory on behalf of its outsourcing clients.

Service Essentials provides meter reading, billing, receipting, payments and debt collection to its foundation outsourcing clients, ENERGEX and Ergon Energy, which have a combined customer base of over 1.9 million electricity and gas customers in Australia.

The Peace 8 CIS provides flexible contract management and complex interval demand billing for Service Essentials' large commercial electricity customers. More than seven million interval meter reads are processed each month.

Dave Thomas, chief executive officer of Service Essentials, said: "The Peace CIS is an enabler to reduce our cost-to-serven without compromising on quality of service. We can deliver cost-effective, accurate and timely utility billing services on behalf of our clients, to their customers, and we can expand our service portfolio into other states with a single integrated solution."

Sebastian J. Gunningham, president of First Data Utilities, said: "Service Essentials' Peace deployment is the latest in a string of successes for First Data Utilities in Australia. Today, Peace is billing electricity and gas consumers in every competitive energy retail market in Australia."
