Ambient Corp. and IntelliSAW Collaborate to Offer Temperature and Humidity Monitoring

June 14, 2014
Communication and sensor vendors' technologies are combined to facilitate real-time temperature and humidity data reporting.

Ambient Corp. and IntelliSAW have announced the integration of their products to provide temperature and humidity monitoring of energized switchgear to IEC61850 or DNP3-based SCADA systems, via Modbus protocol translation.

The two companies' joint offering leverages IntelliSAW's passive, self-powered sensors' ability to remotely and continuously monitor critical connection points within switchgear and transformers, and the Ambient Smart Grid Node's flexible communications and protocol translation capability, to deliver advanced monitoring for critical electric power assets.

"The collaboration with IntelliSAW adds yet another use case to the capabilities of the Ambient Smart Grid Platform, and further expands the ecosystem of supported technologies and applications. We value the collaboration with IntelliSAW and look forward to building upon this early success to address both utility and other industrial verticals with our joint solution," said John J. Joyce, President and CEO of Ambient Corporation.

"We have used Ambient's Smart Grid Nodes to provide connectivity to, and protocol conversion for, our temperature monitoring solution to ease the path to customer deployment, enabling them to use their existing SCADA systems to monitor critical electrical distribution infrastructure with our non-invasive, cable-free sensors," said Tom Cunneen, CEO of IntelliSAW.

IntelliSAW and Ambient will deploy the first joint solutions with customers in Europe and South America, and will actively pursue opportunities in the geographies in which they operate.
