Fayette Electric Cooperative has commissioned a new Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.

Fayette Electric Cooperative, headquartered in La Grange, Texas, provides electric service for approximately 12,000 members in seven counties, and maintains over 2,710 miles of distribution power line. The new system features Survalent's open-architecture system based on Windows Server 2008. The system includes several of Survalent's open system applications, including: IED Wizard, Control Panel, SCADA Add-in for MS Excel and Access, Remote Alarm Annunciation, Power Factor Control, External Clock Interface, WebSurv, SCADA Replicator, Command Sequencing, and MultiSpeak interface for Outage Analysis.

"The MultiSpeak interface for Outage Analysis (OA) systems is a very popular trend in our industry," states Mike Bowdle, VP Sales and Marketing, Survalent Technology. "Most OA systems use a predictive engine to locate the breaker or fuse that opened upon failure. This is done by combining the locations of outage calls from customers. Using the MultiSpeak interface, the SCADA system can inform the OA system in real-time that a breaker has opened, instantaneously validating the outage. This reduces the outage duration due to a faster outage validation, and improves performance indices. We welcome Fayette Electric Cooperative to our growing list of satisfied customers."
