Singapore PowerGrid is implementing the next generation of GIS and outage management technology. With multiple Telvent solutions paired with Esri South Asia and Microsoft platforms, SPPG will be able to reduce service disruptions and associated costs caused by power outages.

SPPG will integrate Telvent’s Responder Outage Management System (OMS) with its ArcFM Enterprise GIS. This will assist the utility with not only sustaining its excellent System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI) record, but also with the management of its daily operations for the Energy Utilities Network. SPPG will now be equipped with an improved outage management system that is smart grid ready. Telvent’s Responder solution is built upon the Microsoft platform, using Microsoft SQL Server and the Windows 7 operating system to provide seamless integration, lower cost of ownership, tighter security and increased productivity.

SPPG conducted its search for a system that was large enough to meet its growing infrastructure and found that Telvent’s broad integration and ability to control was the right fit for its operations.

In addition to Telvent’s OMS, Singapore PowerGrid will use Telvent’s ArcFM Enterprise GIS solution and Esri Inc.’s ArcGIS platform. Part of this architecture features Esri Australia’s (an associate company of Esri South Asia) geographic web applications server, Dekho, to create an interactive map of its electrical grid containing real-time information. This enables the utility to respond more rapidly and accurately to power outages and maintenance issues.
