INFRAX SYSTEMS, Inc. has launched a new software module as part of a new utility-focused Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) platform for end-to-end management of utility assets and resources. EventManager is a pivotal module of the software and interfaces with all facets of the software suite to facilitate automatic response, notification and alerts to user-defined parameters. EventManager is designed to monitor and react to unexpected incidents, as well as to expected events.

Automation and proactive response has long been a goal of utilities, especially in times of storms and weather related circumstances. Disaster response can be greatly improved through comprehensive reporting on asset and material location and availability.

EventManager is a rules-based software module that can detect and react to an incident or event. A rule is a series of instructions provided to EventManager by system users and comprise two primary components - triggers and actions. Triggers relate to specific incidents or events that require an action. Actions define the response EventManager is to take based upon specific triggers. The rules can be arranged in logical hierarchies with no limit to the number of tiers or conditions required for action to be taken.

The Infrax Enterprise Asset Management Platform can be configured to support any user's existing workflows, methodologies and procedures, and does not require a user to change their operations to fit into the software. Users can also add the new EventManager module to provide proactive alerts when a specific set of circumstances occur, such as a contract expiring, an item needing servicing, or an item being removed from a facility without authorization. Alerts can include emails, text messages and audible alarms. In addition, EventManager can invoke network controlled locks, video cameras, alarms, etc. to optimize access control and security policies.

"The ability to integrate an automated rules-based monitoring and response gives the utility the capability to provide a proactive response to unforeseen events," said Paul Aiello, Infrax CEO. "Tracking fixed assets and mobile inventory allows utilities to better manage purchasing and operations while implementing a Governance, Risk and Compliance Management (GRCM) policy."

Infrax's Enterprise Asset Management solutions can be deployed as standalone solutions or integrated into the Infrax Secure Intelligent Energy Platform. The product line is comprised of modular applications which are able to function independently or as a complete suite based on a utility's requirements.
