Advanced Control Systems and SUBNET Combine Substation Tech with Networking

Advanced Control Systems has signed an agreement with SUBNET Solutions Inc. to collaborate on providing innovative interoperability solutions that combine the latest substation technologies with modern day networking and computing technologies. Together the companies will deliver automation solutions that make utility substations more intelligent and enabling more reliable and safe delivery of electric power to consumers.

ACS Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing Kevin O’Hara said, “We are working with SUBNET to provide cost-effective retrofit RTU solutions by applying the latest data concentration and control technologies while maintaining the pre-existing substation infrastructure.”

“Modernizing a legacy RTU environment within a utility substation does not have to be expensive or time-consuming,” said Ameen Hamdon, SUBNET president.  “The design of the ACS I/O peripherals ensure upgrades can be done without the need to disturb or replace any of the existing field wiring.  This is complementary to SUBNET’s SubSTATION Server product, whose design is to ensure the interoperability of legacy and modern substation equipment with today’s advanced SCADA, IT, and OT technologies.  Together, this ensures RTU upgrade projects are both cost effective and efficient.”
