The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is asking the public for input about transmission system upgrades that will support growing industrial load and increase power reliability in Rickman, Tenn. and the surrounding area.
TVA is proposing to build about 6.5 mi of transmission line from the Livingston-West Cookeville 161-kV transmission line and connect to a substation that Upper Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation is planning to build off Rickman Road.
The lines would be built on steel pole structures on a 100-ft right of way. Several alternate line routes are under consideration.
Public input is encouraged, beginning with an open house on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014.
Detailed maps showing the different locations being considered for the proposed transmission line will be available. TVA staff will answer questions, discuss concerns and receive comments. More information is available at www.tva.com/transmissionprojects.
The project is expected to be in service November, 2016. Construction is scheduled to begin summer 2016.
