Transmission Equipment Towing

Sherman+Reilly Inc. has enhanced the towing ability of its Revolution Series transmission equipment product line with the addition of a pintle eye trailer configuration for use with line trucks. The new platform of trailers provides reductions in overall weight and allows for a smaller field and storage footprint.

The new pintle eye versions of the Revolution Series can be found on the T-7212-P Bullwheel Tensioner, PTR-7230S-P Split Model Puller/Tensioner/Reconductorer, and RC-2500X-P powered Reel Carrier.

The T-7212-P Bullwheel Tensioner is built with two pairs of 72 in. 5-groove bullwheels and delivers a maximum tensioning capacity of 12,000 lbs. per sub-conductor or bullwheel pair. Each bullwheel has its own planetary gearbox and hydraulic motor with spring-applied hydraulic release brake. This tensioner features a fully Hydraulic/Direct Drive System, digital controls with self-diagnostics capability, real-time tension monitoring and recording, and a fully enclosed Safe-Zone Cab providing climate control and a protected off-ground operator position. The T-7212-P Bullwheel Tensioner can tension two conductors at once, with independent bullwheel pairs per machine. This allows for both synchronized and independent sag control for banking during bundle stringing. Additional reverse pull and reel stand control options are also provided to allow take-up of unused conductor. The T-7212-P offers synchronized tensioning by connecting up to three machines for a maximum 6 bundle tensioning; all from a singled ultra-quiet fully enclosed operator platform.

The PTR-7230S-P Split Model Puller/Tensioner/Reconductorer in a paired unit, delivers up to 30,000 lbs. of pulling force and tensions up to 25,000 lbs. With a maximum speed of 4 mph, the Revolution Series PTR’s 72-inch bullwheels provide constant tension, precision control, and are designed for handle transmission-class conductors.

The PTR-7230-P offers a fully Hydraulic/Direct Drive System, horizontal automatic Levelwind/Fairlead, centralized engine controls- CAN-bus technology, digital controls with self-diagnostics, and features a fully enclosed Safe-Zone cab providing climate control and a protected off-ground operator position.

The RC-2500X-P powered Reel Carrier, when paired with the PTR-7230S-P provides an 84-inch Rope Reel with optional 25,000 ft. (Max) of Unitrex Synthetic Rope. This reel carrier offers full hydraulic back tension to the bullwheels, which helps keep the rope or conductor tight around the bullwheels. During reconductoring, this reel carrier can be outfitted with a specific optional Sherman+Reilly reconductoring reel that allows controlled reclaiming of old conductor. During tensioning the reverse pull mode is also helpful to assist with take-up of extra sag and the unused conductor.
