Beaver Valley Power Station Raises $20,000-Plus for Hurricane Katrina Relief

Employees of the Beaver Valley Power Station in Shippingport, Pennsylvania, recently donated more than $20,000 to benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina.

The bulk of the money was raised through a one-day collection at plant entrances. The FirstEnergy Foundation will match most of the money collected, raising the total donation to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to more than $37,000.

“We knew we could do something to help victims of this hurricane in their time of need,” said Beaver Valley Site Vice President Bill Pearce. “What our employees accomplished in one day, however, exceeded all expectations.”

Beaver Valley Power Station is operated by the FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC), a wholly owned and operated subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. based in Akron, Ohio.
