Investment in transmission and distribution infrastructure has regularly been cited as a critical need. Included in the assessment is the requirement to upgrade or replace aging systems, which often presents unique challenges.

What are utilities doing about this? How are they justifying the significant financial investment on these projects and programs?

Super Session #1 at the 2012 IEEE PES T&D Conference and Expo will review transmission and distribution projects undertaken by some utilities, examine how funding challenges were met, share examples of leveraging technology to enhance existing capacity and gain efficiency, and discuss the risk of increased regulatory oversight in this area.

Moderated by Ray Desouza of Progress Energy, the session will be on Wednesday, May 9 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Questions and comments from the audience will be encouraged in this discussion.
