American Superconductor offers high temperature superconductor (HTS) power cables that deliver up to 10 times more power than conventional cables, reducing grid congestion as well as installation and operating costs. Secure Super Grids technology uses HTS power cables to carry large amounts of power while simultaneously suppressing fault currents.

The company’s Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) devices include the Static VAR Compensator (SVC) and D-VAR solutions that optimize transmission and distribution lines, making them highly efficient and capable of delivering high quality power. D-VAR solutions are also the de facto standard for wind farm grid interconnection. AMSC’s PQ-SVC is a breakthrough power quality solution that eliminates voltage sags and flicker for large electricity users. Its Fault Current Limiter “FCL” uses HTS technology to suppress fault currents (power surges) securing and stabilizing power grids. American Superconductor www.amsc.com Booth 1760
