FCI, Burndy Products, announces the results of a recent series of self damping tests on CTC Aluminum Conductor Composite Core (ACCC) Conductors. The tests demonstrate that ACCC has superior self damping characteristics as compared to the traditional steel center core supporting virtually all high-voltage transmission wires in the United States today. As a result, FCI is developing a line of connector, suspension, and vibration dampening products based around the ACCC conductor. The first products to be released will be designed around the Drake conductor family, which is the most prevalent found in the aging American transmission infrastructure. Data dev>eloped during the testing will allow for the calculation of equipment and location of the hardware mounted on the transmission conductors.
