A: The main factors to consider during submarine cable installation are length, depth, temperature, bottom conditions, bottom profile, burial requirements, protection requirements, crossings, restricted areas such as marine sanctuaries or anchorages, and landing sites.  Although there are different electrical parameters and design requirements between ac and dc cables, there is no appreciable difference in installation technique.
