Oct. 8, 2015
Lakeland Electric currently operates a state-of-the-art OSI SCADA/EMS platform.

Lakeland Electric is the third largest public power utility in the state of Florida, serving over 120,000 customers. Lakeland Electric currently operates a state-of-the-art OSI SCADA/EMS platform. The new ADMS is based on the same secure robust architecture as the Energy Management System (EMS). The integrated EMS/ADMS approach provides many benefits including streamlined operation, common user interface, common standards and training, and ease of administration and maintenance.

Lakeland Electric’s new OSI ADMS includes a SCADA centric architecture with advanced functionality such as: Distribution Electronic Mapping and Outage Processing; Geographic Information System Interface; Integrated Volt/VAR Control; Distribution Topology Processing; and Switching Order Management, with standard system interfaces to various corporate systems via MultiSpeak and Web Services standards. Subsequent phases include Advanced Outage Management System functionality and applications such as Fault Isolation and Restoration, and Feeder Optimization and Renewables Management.

"Lakeland Electric has a vision of integrated SCADA/EMS/DMS/OMS as we transform our operations for the future," said John McMurray, Assistant General Manager, Energy Delivery at Lakeland Electric, "and extending our OSI SCADA/EMS system with a new integrated ADMS is the next natural step in realizing that vision."
