Leidos Joins with Electric Cities of Georgia to Offer AMI Managed Solutions

The agreement covers Leidos Engineering’s smart grid capabilities, including its AMI managed solution.

Leidos Engineering and Electric Cities of Georgia (ECG) have entered into an agreement to offer smart grid solutions to ECG’s member utilities.

The agreement covers Leidos Engineering’s smart grid capabilities, including its AMI managed solution, which integrates the Honeywell-Elster meter data management platform, field meters, modules and collectors. Leidos also offers extended warranties, business services and advanced technologies, such as utility and customer portals, outage analysis, advanced analytics and system visualization. The suite of smart grid solutions combined with Leidos industry expertise ensures utilities get the greatest value from their smart grid efforts.

ECG provides strategic and technical services to communities with utility operations and has been deeply involved in AMI technology. ECG advises its members as to which AMI solution is the best fit, has the best capabilities based on the community needs and is most supportable by the utility. ECG will work with Leidos to ensure member utilities are aware of the benefits available through the Leidos smart grid capabilities.

“We are focused on assisting our members to identify the best technologies, which can assist with growing communities and businesses in Georgia, and doing this in an affordable way,” said ECG President and CEO John Giles. “These projects can pay for themselves if conducted with our support and that of recommended technology experts, like Leidos.”

“ECG is well versed in available smart grid technologies, so their recommendation of our capabilities, along with those of our partner Honeywell-Elster, is significant and allows member utilities to quickly move through the technology vetting process,” said Terry Butler, vice president of the Leidos smart grid division.

Leidos provides the installation, configuration, integration with key systems, cybersecurity audit services, and a fiscal review tied to a business case, ensuring project benefits align with the costs. Leidos then manages the solution around the clock as an extension of the utility for overall operation and technology support. With Leidos providing the management, utilities can focus on quality delivery and customer support.

“It is important that utilities understand that there are solutions like ours available to modernize any municipal utility, all while the project pays for itself in a short period of time,” said Butler. “Our team works tirelessly to ensure that our utility clients see the business value they expect from smart grid projects.”
